A life long resident of Crested Butte, I have a strong passion for the outdoors. Construction worker by day, and behind the camera in the evening, I love being outside. Utilizing a combination of snowboarding, backpacking, fishing, and camping to find and create many of my images, I specialize in sports action, wildlife, and landscape photography around the Town of Crested Butte. Spending time in the mountains my entire life has helped shape my eye to capture these dramatic images. Waiting for the "ultimate light" offers plenty of time to look around and enjoy the smaller details nature has to offer. As a photographer, I constantly strive to convey the emotions, feelings, and sense of wonder that were present while making the image.
In the heart of the West Elk Mountains, I feel I have the best locale for capturing nature's beauty no matter what the season. Crested Butte is an ever changing scene which never seems to disappoint. I have developed an enthusiasm to showcase this beauty in my photography. Armed with a camera, tripod, and an eye for the sublime, I venture out into woods.
My love for creating artwork is strongly tied to my love of Crested Butte. Drawing on inspiration from growing up in Crested Butte, I feel that my blend of art reflects our valley. I present to you, my vision of Crested Butte through a local's eye. That being said, one won't find many photos from the side of the highway in my portfolio. We all know it's beautiful, that's why we live here. I want my photos to bring the viewer further into the woods than they have ever been.
My goal is to create artwork that people find inspiring, enjoyable, and evokes a love for nature. I like my images to be interesting, and offer a new perspective of the valley we all know. Pursuing photography is a great passion of mine, and it brings me to many beautiful corners of the forest that I may not otherwise visit. I work for my photos.
No cheap drone shots from the side of the road, we hike in the dark for our images! We’ve been doing it long before that was a thing.
